La Mer - Science Expedition

Producing a scientific expedition at sea.

Working on behalf of Pachamama, I creatively produced and led a multi-day scientific expedition off the coast of British Columbia to document La Mer’s origin story at its source — the harvesting and study of its proprietary sea kelp. The project brought together Estée Lauder scientists, brand stakeholders, and a full production crew in a remote marine environment.

Context |

The expedition ran on parallel tracks: scientific research and cinematic documentation. I oversaw production aboard kelp-harvesting vessels with La Mer stakeholders present, coordinating Estée Lauder scientists conducting genomic sampling under strict protocol alongside a Japanese Michelin-star chef as the on-camera subject and a free diver harvesting kelp at depth.

With dedicated science support and multiple camera units operating topside, underwater, and aerially, the production required careful orchestration. The work had to preserve the integrity of the research while generating material for both a future long-form film and evergreen brand storytelling.
